Course Description:
Financial Mathematics offers students the opportunity to increase their personal finance skills and obtain credit in Mathematics. Students prepare for real-world decisions regarding personal money management requiring critical thinking skills. Topics include net pay, income taxes, calculations of mortgage payments and insurance, property and interest costs and taxes, closing costs, etc.
This class is geared to teach you how to be an adult financially.
Supplies Needed:
Pen or Pencil
Classroom Expectations:
Students are responsible for bringing a pen/pencil to class to take notes and work on written assignments. Attentiveness in class is imperative for success. Students who “buy-in” and put forth effort during class will reap lifelong rewards.
Students should expect to work on multiple projects simultaneously. They are in charge of pacing themselves to ensure timely completion.
Course Equipment and Software:
Google Classroom and Drive - Docs; Sheets; Slides.
Grading Policy
Major Grades: 50 % (Projects and Exams)
Minor Grades: 50% (daily work)
Late Work:
Make-up Work: 1 class per day missed after the student returns to school. For example, if a student misses 2nd period on Monday and returns to 2nd period on Wednesday, their make-up work is due at the beginning of 2nd period on Friday.
Tutoring Schedule: 8:05 - 8:35 am
Conference Period: “B” Day 5th Period

BE RESPECTFUL

Be ON TIME when the tardy bell rings and sit in your assigned seat.

Stay ON TASK the entire class period and bring all supplies necessary to class.

CELL PHONES will not be used.

Drinks and food are NOT permitted when computers are in use.

You are responsible for keeping your work area clean.

Do not load any outside programs (from CD, Internet, or USB devices).

It is imperative to attend class daily. You miss “hands-on” activities and lessons if you are absent. This is not the type of class where you can simply take the book home and complete the make-up work.
