ART 1

Art 1, beginning art, is a course that emphasizes how to creatively problem solve and tackle artistic challenges, while learning life long skills such as persistence, reflection, observation, and self critique. As this is an introductory class, students will begin the course with learning the basics and tackling new medias and more challenging techniques as the year progresses. This course will set you up for a great foundation of skills to help you in higher level courses.

ART 2

Art 2 is designed for students to expand upon the Principles of Design and Elements of Art learned in Art 1. Students will explore several different techniques in all types of art mediums while also learning about art history, contemporary inspirations, and art styles. Art 2 will begin to weave concept (meaning) with their craft (technique) in each artwork they create. Students will self-reflect and admire each other’s artworks through critique, promoting self-growth and artistic confidence.

ART 3

Art 3 expands upon the Principles of Design and Elements of Art learned in Art 1 and the technique exploration and art history learned in Art 2. Students will explore all different types of art mediums while developing their own artistic style. As advanced artists, students will be expected to combine concept (meaning) with craft (technique) with every project. Art 3 also involves craft challenges at the end of each 9-weeks, with the opportunity to win coveted Maker’s patches for their aprons.

HIGH SCHOOL ART 1

HS Art I is a high school credit course that is designed to introduce students to a variety of art media, vocabulary and techniques. Art I prepares students for upper-level art courses. This course fulfills the graduation requirement of one Fine Arts credit and also prepares students for more advanced art courses. Successful completion of the course earns one high school fine arts credit.
