BISD will develop PK-12 students’ mathematical reasoning and skills through TEKS-based instruction and assessments in order to prepare students for college and career pathways by providing all students the opportunities to deepen their mathematical understanding and communicate their thinking in a collaborative community.  

Calculators are available to students for in-class use in appropriate math courses. Algebra I and 8^th Grade math students are encouraged to obtain their own graphing calculator for personal use on homework and projects. A calculator model that offer capabilities and features similar to those of the TI-Nspire is recommended. DESMOS (https://www.desmos.com/) provides a free online graphing calculator.
