Voss Eagle Band

Dear Eagle Band Family,

Greetings and welcome to the band program at Voss Middle School! My name is Alicia Perkins and I am the Head Band Director for VMS Eagle Band. It is my privilege and honor to teach the students at Voss MS and I am so excited to get started. Before spending the past 10 years at Garcia Middle School in Northside ISD, I was the Assistant Band Director at Boerne MS North and I am thrilled to be back in Boerne! I am a graduate of Texas Tech University where I met my husband of 20 years, Wesley. We have two children, William 8, and Caroline 10.

I have many exciting events planned throughout this school year for the band program. Through practice and performance, the students in the Eagle Band will be challenged to develop their individual and ensemble musicianship in order to perform at the highest possible level for a middle school band program.

One of the great things that band provides is opportunities to compete as individuals against each other in sections, in our band classes and against other schools. I will encourage our Voss Middle School Band Students to work with their best work ethic and compete in individual competitions like All-Region Band and UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest. In addition, the cumulative effect of our students playing and work at such a high level is that we will have fantastic bands! We will perform with our High Schools in joint ventures, have holiday and spring concerts, and prepare and compete at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest each year.

Finally, I want the Voss Middle School Band Program to be a fun place to enjoy each other and have great social opportunities. The bonds that students create in this program are ones that will last a lifetime and I want to make the bandhall a place that students feel is fun to come to, as well as a place that your student looks forward to sharing great memories with their friends. Throughout the year we will have social activities to always increase and enjoy one another’s company and build amazing bonds that will enhance the beautiful music they create together.

I thank you for giving your child the opportunity to be the very first generation of Voss Band Students. Together we will work to create incredible traditions and a musical environment that I know will be truly special! Welcome Aboard Eagles, Soar High and Aim Higher!
