Degrees and Certifications:
B.A. Chemistry
Mrs. Valerie Roachell
After earning a degree in Chemistry, I worked for 5 years as an analytical chemist in the toxicology field exposing me to many areas of scientific application and research. While I enjoyed my time at the lab, I eventually grew restless of glassware, machines, and animals and wanted to share my love for science and the scientific process with others. Teaching was a natural fit. I obtained my Teaching Certification in Secondary Science and, since then, have had the opportunity to teach a variety of science disciplines at both the middle school and high school level. This will be my 11th year in the classroom and my 3rd year as a Chemistry teacher for Boerne High School.
My husband and I, with our 2 children, moved to Boerne 14 years ago. My daughter is in her senior year at Baylor University (Sic 'Em Bears) and my son is joining her there this year as a freshman. I am blessed to be married to a man who also loves science and spends time doing field research in the TX Hill Country. As a family, we enjoy hiking, swimming - lake or ocean, lazing around outdoors, autos - rugged or fast, and Baylor football and basketball games.
