Who can join?
The BMSN dance team is open to all incoming 7th and 8th graders who can maintain a grade of 70 or above in all classes (UIL No Pass No Play).
No prior dance or cheer experience is necessary. However, it is recommended in order to perform and compete at your best throughout the season, members seek outside dance instruction.
-
Practices
Practices will be held during the 2022-2023 school year on Mondays and Thursdays before school from 7:00 am - 8:15 am in the main gym. Practices will vary once we enter into the competition season (some Saturdays).

Competition Season
All dance team members who are interested may try out for the competitive Shining Stars Dance Team. Tryouts are held each year in October for the upcoming spring competition season. We will hold a 3-day dance camp after school to learn the tryout routine. Tryouts will take place on the fourth day. We attend two dance competitions in the spring.

For More Information

The purpose of the BMSN cheer and dance team is to give members the opportunity to set themselves apart as leaders with spirit, pride, and confidence, while always maintaining a positive attitude.
The Shining Stars are primarily a dance team. We work closely with the dance team at Boerne High School with dance routines and technique clinics. However, due to the fact that there is not a separate cheerleading team at the middle school level, we also work with the high school cheerleaders and learn some of the BHS cheers and very basic stunts. Our team cheers at weekly football and basketball games and performs on the field during halftime for both A & B Team Home games.

Those members who are more interested in cheer will continue cheering at BMSN basketball games from November-February. We also cheer at other extracurricular activities throughout the year.
Because our students at Boerne Middle School North will attend Boerne High School, our team will do our best to participate in Greyhound events. During BHS Homecoming, our team marches in the BHS Homecoming Parade and performs at the Community Pep Rally. The Shining Stars competitive team performs in the BHS Starlettes Spring Show, the Champion Charms Spring Show, and the Fabra Fine Arts Dance Recital in April. Both cheer and dance perform at the BMSN Talent Show.
Many of our members go on to dance or cheer for the Starlettes, Silver Stars. or JV/Varisty Cheerleading teams.
