Mrs. McHone

Kari McHone has served as an educator for over 25 years and loves teaching young children.  

She grew up in Uvalde, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement.  Kari has experience teaching PreK - 3rd grade.

She has taught in the Boerne Independent School District for 20 years, all of them at Curington Elementary.  Throughout her career, she has served in various capacities, including district vertical teams, grade-level team leader, curriculum writing, and presenting numerous workshops within the district.

Kari strives to challenge her students to think critically and independently while instilling honesty, kindness, responsibility, and respect for others in their everyday lives.  She also hopes to foster a love for reading in each student that enters her classroom.

On a personal note, Kari is happily married to Kimble McHone, who is the Boy's Head Basketball Coach at Boerne High School.  They have two children, Griffin and Ellie. Griffin is an Assistant Basketball Coach at the University of South Florida.  He and his sweet wife, Lexie, have blessed her with her first grandchild, Kennedy Kay, who is 15 months old.   Ellie graduated from Texas A&M University and is starting her third year as a Kindergarten teacher at Fabra Elementary in Boerne ISD. She was married this past summer to Bryce Bennett. When she is not teaching, Kari loves cheering for the Boerne Greyhounds, the Texas Aggies, and the South Florida Bulls.  She also loves to read realistic fiction, shop, and spend time with family and friends.
