The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees approved new elementary school attendance boundaries at their regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 15, 2024. The new boundaries create an attendance zone for Viola Wilson Elementary and provide enrollment relief for Fabra Elementary, Kendall Elementary, and Van Raub Elementary.
The board approved Option A with adjustments. Rising 5th graders and their siblings will have the option to “grandfather” for one year, allowing them the option to stay enrolled at their current campuses. Families who opt to “grandfather” students are responsible for providing their own transportation.
The new elementary school attendance zones will go into effect at the start of the 2024-25 school year.

Will current students living in a realigned zone be exempt or “grandfathered” so they can continue t
Posted by:Students entering the fifth grade in the year of realignment will have the option of remaining at their current school. In that year only, younger siblings also will have the option of remaining at their current campus. The following year – once the fifth grader has promoted to sixth grade – all younger siblings, regardless of grade, must apply for transfer to attend a campus other than the one they are zoned for. Prior to the end of this school year, the district will communicate with the families of rising 5th graders to ask if they wish to grandfather their student(s) and opt to remain at their current campus.
-
Will the district provide transportation if my fifth-grader remains at their current campus?
Posted by:Parents will be responsible for providing transportation for students who choose to remain at their current campus for the 2024-25 school year.
-
Will I need to re-register my student if I have already completed registration?
Posted by:Parents who have already completed the registration process for the 24-25 school year at their current campus will not need to re-register their student at their new campus. The district will move this registration for you. Parents who have not yet completed the registration process for 24-25 will need to complete the registration process at their new campus if their student has changed campuses due to the boundary realignment.
