At Boerne ISD, it is a priority to ensure the physical safety and emotional well-being of all students, staff, and visitors. Each day at our campuses, safety measures are in place to facilitate a safe and healthy learning environment. During a crisis, it is our goal to protect lives and property, respond to emergencies promptly and appropriately, coordinate with first responders, aid in recovery, and help to restore normal school operations as quickly as possible. The information below highlights some of the ways we work together to support BISD.

Visitors & Guests
BISD utilizes the Raptor Visitor Management System at each of our campuses. The system assists us by managing the screening and access of our visitors and guests. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Check-In Procedures for Visitors and Guests
- Enter only at the front door/office of the campus.
- Visitors are required to present a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or state identification card.
- The card will be scanned and the data will be compared with a national database of registered sex offenders.
- When approved, a badge will be printed with the visitor's name, photo, date, and time.
- If declined, you will be directed to contact the office of Safety and security.
This procedure may be adjusted to facilitate large group gatherings.

Empowered Partner Program
-
Boerne ISD and these partner businesses are proud to work together to provide safe locations for students in need. Please feel free to share these businesses and their locations with your children to inform them where they can go if they need a safe location or an adult's assistance.
The Empowered Partner Program is designed to create a supportive and safe environment for our students. Through this program, local businesses and organizations become safe zones where students can seek help if they are in need of assistance. These partners are easily identifiable because they will have an Empowered Partner sticker on their door or window of their location.

Safety & Security Committee
The BISD Safety and Security Committee helps in creating and maintaining a safe and secure school climate and culture. The committee consists of representatives from all local law enforcement agencies that serve Boerne ISD, along with parents, BISD staff, and members of the BISD Board of Trustees. The committee members participate in the development and implementation of the district’s emergency response plan and affirm the school district completes safety and security audits and reports. They also consult with local law enforcement to encourage officers' presence at and around our campuses and assist the district in selecting where bleeding control stations are located in our schools.

Any emergency could result in delays in the normal drop-off or release schedule for a campus. Boerne ISD will provide frequent updates to families with schedule changes and drop-off or pick-up locations. In a crisis, accurate information matters.
We are in constant contact with our local police departments' command staffs, and we will relay that information directly to the families of our students.
We will verify information from multiple sources, so rely on us to relay information as soon as we get it directly from our local police departments.
-
We will communicate with parents via text message, email, and automated phone calls. The same information will be shared on the Boerne PD Facebook page.

In short: No.
While we understand you feel your place is with your child/ren, your presence at the school will only take resources away from protecting your student(s), or placing you in harm's way. Please allow local first responders to handle the situation to restore safety as soon as possible and await confirmation on the reunification process from a safe distance away from the school
