BOERNE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES PRINCIPALS FOR NEW MIDDLE AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OPENING IN THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR
Dr.Heberto Hinojosa from Fabra Elementary will be principal at Mark T. Voss Middle School, and Tanya Tate from Curington Elementary will be principal at Dr. Ferdinand L. Herff Elementary.
The Boerne Independent School District announced at their Monday, January 14, Regular Board Meeting two principals already in the district will transfer to two new district campuses opening fall of 2019.
Fabra Elementary’ s, Dr. Heberto Hinojosa, was chosen as principal for Mark T. Voss Middle School. Dr. Hinojosa will be joined at Voss by Boerne Middle School South’s Assistant Principal Matt Myers and football coach Steve Peña.
“I am excited for the team we are creating at Voss Middle School,” Dr. Hinojosa said. “While I will miss my Fabra family, it is an exciting opportunity to be able to grow inside this great district.” Dr. Hinojosa served as Assistant Principal at Boerne Middle School North for four years and was the first principal of the new Fabra Elementary when it opened three years ago.
Curington Elementary’s, Tanya Tate, was selected as principal for Dr. Ferdinand L. Herff Elementary School. Principal Tate has been at her current campus for almost four years and said she is looking forward to seeing familiar faces at her new campus.
“I am most excited to open a brand-new school in BISD,” Principal Tate said. “Especially one that will include some of my current students, and students from around where I live.”
“Both principals have built extremely positive learning environments on their campus,” said BISD Superintendent Dr. Price. “That is a feeling you notice when you walk in the doors, and we look forward to seeing them establish this same atmosphere on our new campuses.”
Both principals will continue to lead their current campuses through the end of the current school year. The district will begin the search for Fabra and Curington’s new principals in May. The selected principals will begin at their new campus for the 2019-2020 school year.
The district will be holding the second Voss and Herff Parent Assembly Wednesday, January 23 at 6:30 pm at the district’s central office. Dr. Hinojosa and Principal Tate will be available to meet with their new campuses’ parents at that time.
