BISD utilizes the Raptor Visitor Management System at each of our campuses. The system assists us by managing the screening and access of our visitors and guests. Your cooperation is appreciated. 

Check-In Procedures for Visitors and Guests

1. Enter only at the front door/office of the campus.
2. Visitors are required to present a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or state identification card.
3. The card will be scanned and the data will be compared with a national database of registered sex offenders.
4. When approved, a badge will be printed with the visitor's name, photo, date, and time.
5. If declined, you will be directed to contact the office of Safety and security.

This procedure may be adjusted to facilitate large group gatherings.

The district has expanded our partnerships with local law enforcement agencies to provide a School Resource Officer at every campus for the upcoming school year.  Not only do these uniformed officers serve to protect our campuses, but they also support our students through safety awareness education and assist in the training of district staff for emergency response.

Our SRO's

The BISD Safety and Security Committee helps in creating and maintaining a safe and secure school climate and culture.  The committee consists of representatives from all local law enforcement agencies that serve Boerne ISD, along with parents, BISD staff, and members of the BISD Board of Trustees.  The committee members participate in the development and implementation of the district’s emergency response plan and affirm the school district completes safety and security audits and reports. They also consult with local law enforcement to encourage officers' presence at and around our campuses and assist the district in selecting where bleeding control stations are located in our schools.

Summer Safety Initiatives
Boerne ISD has established internal and external safety reviews across all district facilities to identify and address operational weaknesses. These reviews are continually being performed to ingrain vigilance and a safety mindset into all departments across the district.

Boerne ISD continues to upgrade our facility security systems to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed TEA safety guidelines.

Facility Hazard and Exterior Access Walkthroughs - All campuses have been assessed for structural hazards and all exterior doors are operable and secured.  A plan has been implemented to confirm that exterior doors remain locked and closed during the instructional day.

Alarm Systems - We have tested alarm systems, notification systems, and video and surveillance systems. 

Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) - We have completed a comprehensive update of our established emergency operations plan by partnering with the Texas State School Safety Center as a resource for support and guidance. This plan has been State-certified and guides our district for critical incidents like severe weather, intruders, gas leaks, and more. 

Protocols/Training - We continue to update existing protocols and training for our staff and students to know what to do in a critical incident event.   

What’s to Come?
In addition to already established safety measures like our visitor check-in process, evacuation drills, P3 confidential reporting, and social and emotional initiatives to support our students and staff,  BISD will also be implementing security measures to confirm exterior doors are locked and that classroom doors are secured when students are present.  We will reinforce a single point of entry to campuses for our guests and visitors and address building and maintenance needs to secure our facilities.
